Every month Rotary features a theme. How does the work of Rotary contribute to the health of mothers and
children?
Rotary projects expand access to quality care, so mothers and children everywhere can
have the same opportunities for a healthy future. An estimated 5.9 million children
under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, inadequate health care,
and poor sanitation — all of which can be prevented.
Rotary provides education, immunizations, birth kits, and mobile health clinics. Women
are taught how to prevent mother-to-infant HIV transmission, how to breast-feed, and
how to protect themselves and their children from disease.

Kiva Loan Update - The International Bank of Fremantle Rotary
The Club has made a total of 97 loans which 53 have been repaid
with the balance of the loans being repaid. We have made loans to 33 countries; from
Albania to Zambia.
One of the most recent loans is to the Rosas De Patzicia Group from Guatemala. One of
the group members is Maria, who alongside her husband grow seasonal vegetables in the
state of Chimaltenango. They employ three people to assist them on the farm and they sell
the produce directly at local markets. The loan is for agricultural inputs including, fertiliser,
seeds and irrigation piping. Maria’s dream is to ensure that her two children have a better
standard of education than she had.
Fremantle Rotary was one of the 125 lenders who supported Maria and her group.#fremantlestory#infreo #rotaryinternational

have been doing Kiva loans for many years. Assisting those who have not the ability to get loans from a bank which is not available to us in a first world country. Look into and help. I have not had a loan that has not been paid back. As little as $25 to start.

It's amazing how just a few dollars can make changes in peoples lives

This is such a great way to help people help themselves and develop peace between countries

Last Wednesday night the club Rebecca from the Path of Hope which is a Perth Rotary project, with an approach to mobilise the organisational
capacity of Rotarians to support The Salvation Army’s services that provide safety and
empowerment to women and their children escaping Family and Domestic Violence and
raise much needed awareness in our local communities.
Rebecca gave us an inspiring talk on the work of the ‘Path of Hope’
, noting that the success
of the organisation was only possible because we are members of Rotary.
From small beginnings in 2008, providing support and pro-bono
advice for victims of family violence in the Salvation Army refuge,
the Path of Hope has grown to an international organisation
which has provided around $11.9 million worth of pro-bono
services and volunteering worldwide.
Rebecca noted that the best piece of advice she has received was
from Major Margaret, in the Salvation Army: ‘Before you can
help, you need to understand.
