CBH Visit – 21 Jul 2010

A most interesting visit to the Co-operative Bulk Handling organisation (CBH)at KWINANA. Their role is to provide storage and other logistic services for grain handling .Major points were
• Storage capacity about 700,000 tons
• Organisation is owned by the farmers (7000 all have a $2.00 share)
• Non profit organisation.
• 90% of grain is delivered by rail. 10% by road
• Facility is mainly automatic. Only employs 10 people at KWINANA. This includes maintenance staff.
• Average shipment by sea is 30,000 tons.
A good visit and many thanks to Maisie for arranging it..
